Wine Exports Increase

While the world sees a downturn in the global economy one area of the Bulgarian economy has recorded growth when compared against the first half of 2010.

In the first half of 2011 Bulgaria has recorded an increase of 1.1% in exports of wine outside the nation. This percentage increase amounts to an extra 238,991 litres when compared on 2010.

In total the first half of 2011 saw 21,646,606 litres of wine exported outside the country with just under half of this output exported to Russia. Hungary, the Czech Republic and neighbouring Romania were the nations that showed the biggest increase in importing Bulgarian wine.

The UK also saw an increase in importing Bulgarian wine with many large supermarkets seeing Bulgarian wine as a good option for lower budget wines with great taste.

Close to home the local markets were also bouyant showing a large increase on H1 of 2010.
