Airport Traffic Increases

Sofia, Varna and Burgas have all registered increases in passenger numbers at their airports for the first half of 2011 when compared to the same time period last year.

The total increase in passengers across the three airports accounts for a total of 3.89 million passengers, or nearly ten percent of teetotal passenger numbers.

Varna and Burgas recorded their increases due to an increase in holiday makers visiting the region from overseas. The Sofia airport, in the countries capital, saw the largest increase of all the airports however. Sofia airport saw passenger numbers increase by 7.4% against the first first half of 2010.

The Sofia airport anticipates a record 3.5 million visitors in 2011 because of it's H1 results. The increase is attributed to new travel destinations and more international travellers.
