Former CSKA President Jailed

The former CSKA President and former CEO of the Kremikovtzi Steel Mill, Alexander Tomov has been jailed for nine years today for embezzlement.

Alexander Tomov was jailed, along with his conspirators, to nine years in prison after the court ruled that he has falsified documents and embezzled 29 million Leva from the Kremikovtzi Steel Mill between 2005 and 2008. Tomov had also been in court about embezzlement from CSKA where he was the president during this time but he was found not guilty on these charges.

Tomov has always maintained his innocence and believes the whole case was politically motivated as a way of removing him from his position, this however was not believed by the jury.

The prosecution had been pressing for a fifteen year sentence, but Tomov was acquitted on some charges and found guilty on other thus resulting in a nine year sentence.
