Yesterday and today Bulgarian and Greek rail passengers wishing to travel between Bulgaria and Greece have sustained alot of disruption to the rail network. This disruption has been caused by train drivers of the Greek Railways Organisation (OSE) staging a forty eight hour strike.
The strike is a direct protest by transport workers in defiance to the Greek government’s plans to reform the transport sector.
The industrial action is having a severe impact with Greece, but is also impacting on the rail network in Bulgaria as trains to Thessalonika from the Bulgarian capital of Sofia have been cancelled.
Passengers whose trains to Greece have been cancelled will be eligible to either get a refund from the Bulgarian State Rail company or be rebooked on another train when the network is back up and running.
